Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens is joining with over 100 accredited zoos and aquariums across the nation to Party for the Planet™ in celebration of Earth Day – creating North America’s largest combined Earth Day celebration! Conservation groups from around Southwest Florida, as well as local businesses with a green focus, will be on-site to share ways on how to live more sustainably. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 1st at Naples Zoo, kids will receive free earth-friendly gifts* from participating partners. Zoo guests can test their skills at the Trash Challenge, plant a seed to take home, and more! Best of all, Party for the Planet™ is taking place on the first Saturday of the month when Collier County residents are welcomed free to Naples Zoo.

Party for the Planet™ participants include: Davey Tree, Collier County Solid Waste Management, Keep Collier Beautiful, Goodwill, Pollution Control Division, and Conservancy of Southwest Florida.

In recent years, the Association of Zoos and Aquariums has publicly recognized Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens as one of their accredited institutions that contributes the most to field conservation programs as a percentage of their budget. Since 2012, Naples Zoo has donated over a million dollars in collaborative conservation programs to save rare plants and animals in the wild. The largest project was a cooperative effort with the US Fish and Wildlife Service and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to create a short-term rehabilitation facility for injured or orphaned Florida panthers and conservation education efforts to protect our state animal. The Zoo’s conservation portfolio also includes other local efforts including research on the endangered Florida bonneted bat, awareness on invasive species, and living safely with wildlife graphics in Big Cypress National Preserve.  International efforts support giant anteaters, tigers, lemurs, giraffes, gibbons, leopards, lions, and much more. As a private nonprofit, Naples Zoo is only able to conduct these programs with the support of the zoo’s guests, members, and donors.
